Kumite Jutsu
Gokyu (Blue Belt)

 1. Eagle Pin. (AB). Two hand grab.
A.) Step forward with right to cat; cross grab his wrists, (right inside), pull his arms together right underneath; release his right arm and re-grab his left hand, twist it to side wrist lock; cross back in advance 45° right with left; pivot, bring right elbow to his left elbow; apply lock and elbow pressure, drop, kneeling with right.
B.) Palms down. Reach over arms with right and catch top of his right hand, pin to chest, left hand comes over top of his right arm, between both, under left hand and up, palm out; cross back forward 45° right with left, pivot bring right elbow up against our left hand on his left outside forearm; twist left hand and grab his left outside wrist, right elbow on his left elbow (pull his shoulder forward if he is strong to weaken him), take down; kneel with right.

2. Oriental Lever. Right push, punch, or grab.
Step forward with right, left brushing parry, right four finger eye shot; pivot forward to bow, left punch solar plexus, right outward extended blocking strike to guard; left outward twisting parry counter grab his right arm, naihanchi step over with right to outside his right leg, right tiger mouth to throat; pivot 180° to bow, pull right arm down with left, throw to ground and pull right arm up.

3. The Rocker. Left grab, right punch.
Both tiger mouths catch his left wrist, right front kick to his right inside thigh, twist his left hand counter clockwise, thumb down, elbow up, to side wrist lock, right elbow on his left elbow; swing right leg to the left, parallel to ground; drop straight down to ground, apply pressure to lock and his left elbow, rocking chest; pin arm or break elbow.

4. Crossing the Mountain. (AB). Right push, grab, or kick.
A.) Step forward 45° with left to fighting stance, same time: right outward extended blocking strike, left punch right ribs; shift 90° left to dropping stance, right hammer fist to right kidney left hand to guard; shift back to fighting stance, grab his throat with right, right side kick to left knee, throw on ground.
B.) Step forward 45° with left, right downward blocking strike to his right leg, left hand to guard; pivot to fighting stance, left punch right ribs; shift 90° left to dropping stance, right hammer fist to right kidney left hand to guard; right hand to guard, right side kick to his right knee; plant forward to fighting stance, right side elbow - left palm heel strike to head.

5. Bearhug (Free in front). Set II. (ABC). Suspended.
A.) Head up. Double palm to ears, rotate and Eagle-claw eyes, double palm heel to neck (right high, left low); catch jaw with right, top side of head with left; twist to break.
B.) Head up. Left horizontal forearm against cheek line, push out; catch jaw with right, top side of head with left; twist to break neck.
C.) Head against chest. Insert left middle and ring fingers into his nostrils and pull up; right tiger fist to throat.

6. Striking Serpent. Left push, punch, or grab.
Step forward 45° right with right to Bo, right inward parry, left outward parry and catch; left Thai kick to neck -or- heart point; pull his left arm down, side kick with left to left knee; pull his arm right, plant forward to fighting stance; right spinning. heel kick/stomp to head.

7. The Viper. (ABC). Push, punch, or grab.
A.) Right / inside. Inward circular parry with right, continue motion, step forward with right to fighting stance; right elbow to ribs, left four finger eye shot; right reverse knife hand to right anterior triangle of neck. Use your brain. Think of different endings.
B.) Right / outside. Inward circular parry with left, continue motion, step forward with left to fighting stance; left elbow to ribs, right four finger eye shot; step back left with right, slide right hand down to his right wrist, left forearm on his right elbow; pivot to fighting stance, break or takedown.
C.) Left. Start as ‘A’, then; step right with left, right back knuckle to left ribs, left hand to guard; pivot to fighting stance, right punch to left side head. Think of variations after back knuckle.

8. The Lotus. (AB). Right push, backhand, or grab.
A.) Step forward 45º left with left to fighting stance, left inward parry, right outward parry counter grab right wrist; pivot right 180° to bow, left palm heel to right elbow; pull right arm forward with right, reverse motion, left back knuckle right ribs (Liv-13); pivot left 180° to half bow, grab right shoulder with left, circle right arm counter clockwise, right hammer fist to back of neck (Gb-20).
B.) Start as ‘A’; after left palm heel, cross back, to the left, with right, slide left hand to his right wrist; maintain grip with left, step back with the left; pivot to fighting stance, pull with the left, right punch to right mastoid process.

9. The Drawbridge. (A1-2,BC). Right hand shoulder grab.
A1.) Left side. Grab his right wrist with left, step forward behind right leg with right, right tiger mouth or palm heel to throat or chin; pivot 180° to bow, right 45° forearm twist strike to shoulder joint, rake down to biceps, circle right arm 360°, hammer fist to chest or left side neck, throw to ground; drop right knee to rib cage, right punch to face.
A2.) Start as ‘A1’ to throw; right hand slides to his wrist; pull up and right heel stomp to face; cross back left with right, drop to right knee, break right elbow on left knee.
B.) Right side. Step forward 45° left with left, pin his right hand with right to right shoulder, left vertical forearm to right elbow; pivot to fighting stance, break right elbow; left crane hook right crook of arm, pivot forward to bow, right palm heel to right side jaw; right crane hook back of neck, left hand pins right arm to body; pull down head with right, right knee to groin or solar plexus.
C.) Intercept. Left side. Grab inside right wrist with left, right tiger mouth to throat, step forward behind right leg with right; lower head, lift his right arm over; position elbow on top of spine, right hand to left side of neck; pull down and straighten up, break elbow.

10. Bearhug (Pinned in back). Set II. (AB).
A.) Before grab. Lift elbows up and out intercepting his arms, step forward with left to cat stance, circle both forearms over his, crane hook wrists, pull into chest; rotate head counter clockwise, (swivel hips clockwise), under his left arm; right arm brings his right arm to his left arm pit; release, place our right arm on back of his left triceps, circle his left arm with left, left fist push against right forearm; step back with left; pivot left, kneel with right.
B.) Tall. Start as ‘A1’; step forward 45° right with right to seisan, bend forward and twist upper body so right elbow points down; twist back right, right rear elbow to solar plexus; rotate under left arm as in ‘A’, keep circling right arm down to hip.

11. Circling the Sun. (AB). Right push, punch, or grab.
A.) Step forward 45° left with left, left inward parry, circle his right fist clockwise with right (right arm high); right naihanchi kick to right leg, right dropping forearm twist strike (dropping weight) to (Gb-20).
B.) Shuffle forward with right to cat, inward parry with left, circle his right fist clockwise with right, right forearm twist strike to right side of neck (St-9) (sliding upwards).

12. Ascending to Heaven. (ABC). Rising from sitting.
A.) Lean forward and rise, twist to fighting stance; jump double front snap kick.
B.) Lean forward and rise, twist to jump spinning back kick.
C.) Lean forward, twist back, place both hands on ground, back kick.

13. Full Nelson. (ABC).
A.) Reach up with both hands and pry a finger loose; finish like “Bearhug (Fib) ‘B’”.
B.) Hands in fists. Step right to naihanchi; pull elbows down to side, separating his arms; step forward with left, pivot counter clockwise to bow, right rear elbow to right side head; left foot back; repeat to other side; left hand continue to left hip, right palm to left side of head; shift to fighting stance, left uppercut to solar plexus, right hand guard; shift to bow, right rising knee to groin, left hand guard, right hand circling under his left arm; finish like “Kimono Grab Set II ‘B’”.
C.) Intercept. Pin his arms to side (allow enough through to work with), cross catch fingers (right inside), twist down until he rises on toes, complete like “Bearhug (Fib) ‘C’”.

14. Crouching Falcon. Two hand push.
Step forward with right to bow, double outward extended twist strike (between arms) and crane claw to eyes; catch right arm with left, pivot to fighting stance; pull in with left, right rising elbow to jaw; right dropping. tiger claw to face; shift clockwise to twisted stance, left hammer fist to groin, right hand open guard; twist counter clockwise to fighting stance, right tiger mouth to throat, left fist guard; shift forward to right half bow, left punch to heart point; shift to slight right reverse half bow, right punch to face; right lift kick to groin, plant forward 45° right with right to fighting stance; left 45° kick to inside left leg.

15. Locking the Arm. Set III. (ABC). Resist.
A.) Wrist. Keep the right arm straight to prevent the arm lock, step back with right to cat, strike his hips with buttocks; lift both arms and drop elbows outside his forearms pin to sides; cross grab and finish like “Bearhug (Fib) ‘C’”.
B.) Elbow. Step forward 45° left with right; twist right wrist free, pivot to fighting stance; catch his left hand with right pinning to elbow,
 raise right arm vertical outside his left arm; apply pressure 45° down against right forearm; step forward right-left, kneel with right.
C.) Shoulder. Cross back left with right, twist right wrist free and forward, reverse and swing right arm counter clockwise to outside left arm, step back with left; pivot and kneel with right, press down and out on left forearm.
