Kumite Jutsu
Hachikyu (Yellow Belt)

1. Knee of Vengeance. (AB). Two hand grab. (front).
A.) Or push. Double crane hook to crooks of his arms, pulling them to the outside; right knee to body (Cv-18), right stomp left foot (St-43); right elbow to left side head (St-6), left pull down on his right arm.
B.) Choke. Pin hands with left, put right foot forward to cat stance, right knife hand thrust (palm up) between his arms to throat; left four finger eye shot, pull right hand straight back to sternum; circle right hand counter clockwise to his left arm crook, drop left hand to right, double crane hook; finish like ‘A’.

2. One Armed Boxer. Set I. (A1-4,B1-4,CDE). Parry arm disabled or engaged.
A1.) Right Punch. Step forward with right, pivot to fighting stance, right inward blocking strike; right knife hand strike to right side of his neck.
A2.) Same as ‘A1’ except; right whipping back knuckle to right side of head (Tw-17).
A3.) Same as ‘A1’ except; right tiger claw to face (Si-18).
A4.) Same as ‘A1’ except; right finger slice to eyes (palm down).
B1.) Left Punch. Start as in ‘A’, right outward extended blocking strike; pivot to fighting stance, right knife hand strike to left side of his neck (Li-18).
B2.) Same as ‘B1’ except; right punch to head (Si-18).
B3.) Same as ‘B1’ except; right tiger claw to face (St-3).
B4.) Same as ‘B1’ except; right four knuckle rake to nose (Gv-24.5).
C.) Right overhead club. Step forward with left, outward circular parry his right hand clockwise; right side kick to back of knee; plant forward with foot on knee; right hammer fist to neck, or adjust feet to kick.
D.) Left push or grab. Step forward with right to fighting stance, right descending 45° strike his left forearm; right back knuckle or knife hand to head.
E.) Right punch. Right front snap kick to groin, right inward parry; step forward with right to fighting stance, right knife hand to right side of neck.

3. The Art of War. Set I. (A1-7,B1-3). Against punches.
A1.) Right Punch. Step forward with the right; at the same time: pivot to fighting stance, left outward extended knife hand blocking strike to his right forearm, right knife hand strike to right side of his neck; pivot forward to neutral bow, left punch to face, right hand to guard; shuffle forward (push-drag), right shoulder punch to face.
A2.) Same as ‘A1’ except; punch cheek line (main response).
A3.) Start as ‘A1’ except; tiger claw to chin and eyes; then; pivot forward to neutral bow, left uppercut to solar plexus or right ribs, right hand to guard; left crane hook the back of his neck; shift 180° to reverse neutral bow; left pulls head down to our left side, right side elbow to left side head.
A4.) Same as ‘A1’ except; back knuckle twist to nose.
A5.) Start as ‘A1’ except; thumb to left eye; then; crane hook back of his neck with the right, pivot forward to neutral bow, left side elbow to head; shift 180˚ to reverse neutral bow, left whipping back knuckle, right hook to his head.
A6.) Start as ‘A1’ except; four finger eye shot; finish like ‘A3’.
A7.) Same as ‘A1’ except; tiger mouth to throat.
B1.) Left Punch. Step forward with the left; at the same time: pivot to fighting stance, right outward extended knife hand blocking strike to his left forearm, left punch to head; pivot forward to neutral bow, right shoulder punch to left cheek line, left hand to guard; shift back, left uppercut to solar plexus, right hand to guard; left crane hook the back of his neck; shift forward to neutral bow; right side elbow to left side of his head.
B2.) Start as ‘B1’ except; right uppercut to his left ribs or solar plexus; then; left uppercut to his chin; shuffle forward to neutral bow, right shoulder punch.
B3.) Start as ‘B1’ except; left back hand slap to groin; then; pivot forward to bow, right side elbow to left side head; pivot to fighting stance; right whipping back knuckle to his head; left tiger mouth to throat; pivot forward to neutral bow, right shoulder punch to left cheek line.

4. Ground Defense. (A1-2,B1-2,C). How to fall.
A1.) Forward. Land on finger tips collapsing to palms; lower to ground turning head to side; roll to side, hands in guard position, tuck bottom foot in, top leg, knee up, foot flat on ground.
A2.) Down. Lower your body to a ball, right and left arms in face block position, hands open, using the right arm to protect your head, hotdog or shoulder roll to standing position facing attacker.
B1.) Right side. Left leg supports; lower 45° to the right rear, land on right four points: side calf, side of thigh, hip, rib cage, right arm on stomach; try to prevent rocking; finish like ‘A’.
B2.) Left side. Reverse of ‘B1’.
C.) Back. Strongest leg supports, other slides forward, cross arms on chest; lower straight down, butt to heel, chin on chest; lower back to ground with no rock, roll to side finish like ‘A’.

5. Twisting Talon. (ABC). Right wrist grab.
A.) Step back with left, counter grab his inside wrist, pivot to rear, right rear kick to body.
B.) Bend right wrist and form ‘crane beak’; rotate hand counter clockwise to full stop; then, reverse to counter grab his left top inside wrist or right top outside wrist; step back with left to cat stance, pull in, to or past, right hip, right front snap kick to center or left side of body.
C.) Same as ‘B’ except; step back with right then left; pull in, to or past, right hip, right side kick to left knee (or ribs).

6. Attacking Circle. (A1-3,B1-3,C1-3). Training device. (right side).
A1.) Foot patterns: Step right with right to fighting stance, bring right foot back to left foot, then, left with left to fighting stance.
A2.) Step right with right to fighting stance, cross over left with right, pivot to fighting stance.
A3.) Step right with right to fighting stance, cross back left with right, pivot to fighting stance.
B1.) Cross over left with right, pivot to fighting stance, finish like ‘A1’.
B2.) Cross over left with right, pivot to fighting stance, finish like ‘A2’.
B3.) Cross over left with right, pivot to fighting stance, finish like ‘A3’.
C1.) Cross back left with right, pivot to fighting stance, finish like ‘A1’.
C2.) Cross back left with right, pivot to fighting stance, finish like ‘A2’.
C3.) Cross back left with right, pivot to fighting stance, finish like ‘A3’.

7. Capturing the Wing. (AB). Right shoulder grab.
A.) With the right, grab the front of his shoulder, left to guard; step left with the left, pivot left 90° to dropping stance, right back kick to his ribs, right side kick to his knee and pull him down to the ground with the right.
B.) Pin his hand to shoulder with the left, step left with the left to fighting stance; circle right arm counter clockwise pinning his forearm;
cross over right with the left, step in front of his left leg (left grab) or behind his right leg (right grab) with the right, place the right femur’s greater trochanter under his pubic bone (left side) or ischium (right side), circle right arm counter clockwise rotating his arm aside; grab his back (left side) or chest (right side) from under his arm, left arm grabs what is available; straighten right leg to lift him off the ground, pivot 90Ί, throw to the ground; shuffle forward if necessary, follow up with dropping right knee to the body, right punch to the head.

8. Kick Blocks. Set I. (ABCD).
A.) Front snap kick. Step back with right, right punch his instep, left hand to guard; pivot to fighting stance, both hands to guard.
B.) Front snap kick / side kick (right). Step back with right, right downward blocking strike kick, left hand to guard; pivot to fighting stance, hands to guards.
C.) Side kick (left). Step back with right, parry left heel to left with right palm (fingers down), left hand to guard; pivot to fighting stance, hands to guards.
D.) Front snap kick. Step back with right, left downward sweeping crane hook, catch his foot, right
hand to guard; right or left front snap kick to groin (Cv-1) or support leg (Sp-10).

9. Breaking the Spear. Handshake and left punch or grab.
Step forward with left to fighting stance, left tiger mouth to back of his right wrist, push right hand back against tiger mouth (palm heel against fingers) to lock his arm straight; rotate his right arm counter clockwise and up to block punch; cross back left with right, pivot to naihanchi, place his right elbow on left shoulder, pull down with both hands, break elbow; lift arm up; pivot 90° left to neutral bow, left rear elbow to right ribs.

10. Bearhug (Free in front). Set I. (ABCD).
A.) Step back with right to T-stance, left hand circles around behind his head, grab hair (forehead if hair is too short or missing), pull back and down, right knife hand thrust (palm down) to throat.
B.) Start as ‘A’; then; double gouging thumbs to eyes or throat.
C.) Start as ‘A’; then; double palm strike to ears.
D.) Head facing right on chest. Start as ‘A’; then; right supported thumb under jaw, left hand grabs nose; push up with right, left hand pull nose away from body; re-grab (right grabbing back of his head, left his chin), twist head counter clockwise to free. (Reverse if facing left).

11. Twisted Wave. (AB). Right push.
A.) Left palm against right push, stopping it; back of right hand against of back of his right hand, pull to chest and pin; step back with right, catch his fingers with left hand, circle right hand clockwise to our left forearm; pin tight with elbows, bend forward 45° with upper body, drop chin on chest; pivot and corkscrew down, kneel with left; adjust, pin.
B.) Miss. Hand continues to chest. Pin hand to chest with right hand, pull small finger over others; left hand pins on top; complete like ‘A’.

12. Locking the Arm. Set I. (ABC). Right arm bar lock.
A.) Wrist. Punch forward with left, step back 45° right with left; pivot to fighting stance, left side elbow to face; counter grab right wrist with right, step forward 45° right with left, rotate hand clockwise, pull right arm to right hip with right, right front snap kick to right armpit (H-1).
B.) Same to rotation, (he fights pull), left front snap kick to knee, plant forward with left, left forearm against right elbow; pivot, break elbow or take down.
C). Start as ‘A’, step forward 45° left with left, cross back with right; continue as ‘A’, kick where you like; plant forward to proper distance; step forward with left, finish like ‘B’.

13. Head Lock. Set I. (AB1-2).
A.) Turn head towards his body, bite.
B1.) Start as ‘A’; step back with leg closest to his side and kneel, same side reverse knife hand to groin, other hand pulling down on his arm.
B2.) Facing towards him. Step back with leg opposite to his grab and kneel, finish same as ‘B1’.

14. Japanese Strangle Hold. (AB). Loose left arm bar choke (rear).
A.) Step left with left; pivot right 90° to bow, right rear supported elbow strike solar plexus; left hand to guard, right tiger claw to groin, grab groin, right back rising elbow to chin.
B.) Right arm in arm lock. Step right with right; pivot left 90° to bow, left rear elbow strike solar plexus; finish like ‘A’.

15. The Bridge. Rear hair grab.
Step back with left behind his right leg to fighting horse, left hand circles around behind his head, grab hair (forehead), pull back and down, right tiger mouth grab throat; pivot 90°, step right then left; take down, kneel with right, slam head into ground –or- pivot 90° left after right step; takedown.
