Ikkyu (Black
Belt 2)
1. Blue Dragon’s Talon.
(A1-2B). Overhead 45° knife
slash.
A1.) Step forward with right to
fighting stance, right tiger mouth to throat, left outward parry counter grab to
wrist; right elbow to left side of head; reach over his right forearm and grab
outside right wrist (thumb on middle knuckle ); cross back 135° left with right,
shift left hand under his hand and grab inside right wrist (thumb on
first knuckle); pivot to fighting stance, apply center lock; right front snap
kick to right knee; plant forward, remove knife from grip with right. Finish as
instructed.
A2.) Center lock doesn’t work. Release left hand and tap Tw-9 or rub
Tw-10 with left.
B.) Backslash. Step forward with left to fighting stance, double knife
hand strike, right to wrist, left to Tw-10; cross back 90° left with right,
catch his right wrist with right, left hand on right elbow; pivot to bow, break
right elbow; takedown and remove or recover knife.
2. Wrapping the Gift.
(A1-2,BCD). Right punch.
A1.) Parry and catch his right punch
with left, placing his right fist in crook of our right elbow; step back with
right, pivot 180° to bow or half bow with sudden snapping motion, left elbow
against his right elbow.
A2.) Same as ‘A’; but, step forward 45° right with right.
B.) Same time: parry down and catch top of punch with left (palm down), catch
bottom of fist with right (palm up); right front snap kick left thigh; step back
with right, pivot to bow, left elbow against his right elbow.
C.) Both hands parry punch to right; circle right arm around right wrist, catch
with crook of right arm, right elbow tight against right side, left palm on
right elbow; right front snap kick groin; plant back, pivot 180° kneel with
left, takedown.
D.) Step forward with left to cat, right crane wrist strike up against his right
wrist, left downward palm heel strike against his right back knuckles; twist
right hand clockwise to Nikyo; step forward 45° right with left, take down.
3 Blue Dragon’s Bite. (AB).
Knife thrust.
A.) Cross back left with right, left
inward strike against his forearm, slide down and catch right wrist and hand,
strike up and left with right palm heel to lateral aspect of little metacarpal
head, bend wrist to Ikkyo; step forward with left to bow, push right arm back
and twist counter clockwise, cutting throat; apply pressure down counter
clockwise with Ikkyo so he falls to his right side and rolls over on stomach;
adjust stance as necessary, straighten and lock arm, apply pressure with Ikkyo,
remove knife with right; (if not on stomach) adjust stance as necessary, reverse
direction, step over body with left cross back with right, pivot and finish as
above.
B.) Step back with right, left inward strike against his forearm, slide down and
catch right wrist and hand; cross back with left, strike left and up with right
palm heel as in ‘A’, bend wrist to Ikkyo, pivot to bow; complete as in ‘A’.
4. Shooting Star.
Right hook punch.
Step forward 45° right with right, catch his right wrist with both tiger mouths;
pivot to half bow, maintain grip, left side elbow strike to his right elbow,
take down. Many variations.
5.
Attack of the Blue Dragon .
Upward knife thrust.
Bend forward 45°, suck in stomach, left
knife hand to wrist, right back knuckle to forearm; open right hand to X-block,
sweep his arm to desired side; right front snap kick.
6.
Divided
Sword. (AB).
Right punch.
A.) Outside. Step forward left
with left to fighting stance, left inward parry; cross back in advance with
right, pivot, right supported elbow to back; reverse, left supported elbow to
right ribs; continue motion, step left with right, right reverse knife hand to
left side neck.
B.) Inside. Reverse of ‘A’, left elbow to body; reach up and back, catch
with double gouging thumbs to throat; twist him down to the front.
7. Blue Dragon’s Silver Tongue.
(AB). Knife thrust.
A.) Hop forward left with left to
fighting stance, double palm heel strike (right to wrist, left to elbow); pivot
forward to bow, left palm rotates and pushes his upper right arm to right
outside, right reverse knife hand over his right arm to left side of neck; cross
back 90° left with right, catch his right wrist with right, left hand on right
elbow; pivot 180° to bow, break right elbow; takedown and remove or recover
knife.
B.) Hop forward left with left to fighting stance, (continuous motions) left
inward circular parry, right dropping palm heel radial nerve mid forearm, left
knife hand radial nerve upper forearm, shift forward to bow, right four finger
eye shot, shift back to fighting stance, left knife hand to throat; cross back
90° left with right, left vertical forearm to elbow, catch his right wrist with
right, pivot 180° to bow, break right elbow; takedown and remove or recover
knife.
8. Three Winds Claw. (ABC).
Left - Right punch.
A.) Crane parry his left with
the right, sweeping down and counter clockwise; step back with left to cat, left
crane parry his right punch; step forward with right to fighting stance, right
dropping palm heel to his nose, left hand to guard; right palm heel to solar
plexus, rising elbow to chin, dropping back knuckle to chin; pivot forward to
bow, left tiger claw to face; pivot to fighting stance, right uppercut tiger
fist to throat.
B.) Start as ‘A’ to palm heel to solar plexus; right palm heel to chin, right
tiger fist throat, right four finger eye shot.
C.) Start as ‘A’ then; right four knuckle rake to nose, left to guard; pivot to
dropping stance, right hammer fist to groin; pivot forward to bow, right back
knuckle to philtrum; left knife hand to throat, right hand chambered; shift to
fighting stance, right punch to heart, left hand by right shoulder.
9. Blue Dragon Looks Down.
(AB). Overhead knife.
A.) Hop forward left with left to
fighting stance, double circling parry (clockwise) knife hand, guide knife to
right leg; left hand pin right arm to right side, right rising palm heel under
chin, right tiger claw to chin, grab face; step forward right-left to kneeling,
right knee on ground, drive back of head to ground; circle right arm clockwise
tiger claw to groin; reach back and grab knife from leg with right, plunge into
heart.
B.) Start as ‘A’ except; guide knife to groin; grab knife or hand holding it and
pull up hard; right naihanchi kick support leg collapsing him on knife.
10.
Ring of Fire.
(ABCD). Right push, punch, or
grab.
A.) Step forward with left to bow, same time: right inward striking block
to inside right arm, left inward parry to outside right arm (trap block); right
knife hand to his right mastoid process; right crane hook his neck, pull down,
circle right arm 360° counter clockwise, left palm on his right shoulder, right
dropping elbow to back of neck.
B.) Start as ‘A’; left dropping
elbow to his spine; continue motion; right dropping elbow to his back of neck.
C.) Start as ‘A’; after left dropping elbow; right rising elbow to head, right
hammer fist to back of neck.
D.) Start as ‘A’, after crane hook to neck; right rising knee to his face; plant
forward, left dropping elbow to his spine; right tiger claw to his face (palm
up).
11. Dance of the Blue Dragon.
(AB). Horizontal knife slash.
A.) Step forward with right,
catch right wrist/hand with right; cross back in advance with left, pivot to
fighting stance, left rear elbow to solar plexus; grab right hand with left,
reverse to fighting stance, twist right hand to Ikkyo; right front snap kick to
face, plant forward; left side kick to right knee, plant forward; takedown and
disarm.
B.) Start as ‘A’ to Ikkyo; loop left leg over right elbow to break.
12. Attacking the Windmill.
(AB). Right punch.
A.) Left front snap kick his
right leg, left - right brushing parry to outside of right punch; plant forward
to fighting stance outside his right leg, left elbow to right ribs, right four
finger eye shot; right hand pulls down his right arm sliding to wrist, left
reverse knife hand (palm up) to throat; step back 90º to left with right, left
forearm to elbow; pivot and break his right elbow.
B.) Right front snap kick to groin, right – left brushing parry to inside of
right punch; plant forward to fighting stance between his legs, right elbow to
solar plexus, left four finger eye shot, left hand pulls down his right arm
sliding to wrist, right reverse knife hand (palm up) to right anterior triangle
of his neck.
13. Flight of the Blue Dragon.
Knife attack (running).
Hop forward left with left to fighting
stance, left clockwise circular parry knife, right clockwise circular catch back
of neck; continue motion, rotate left hand counter clockwise, catch his right
elbow, shift to bow, throw him; right hand catches his right hand, left hand
slides up to right hand, bend wrist to Ikkyo; step over his right arm with left
leg, cross back with right, pivot, twist clockwise, straighten and lock arm,
apply pressure with Ikkyo, remove knife with right.
14. Chinese Fan. (AB).
Right push, punch, or grab.
A.) Step forward with left to low cat,
left inward parry and knife hand thrust with right to right hip point; reach
down and catch back of right knee with left crane hook; step forward with right
behind his left leg, right side elbow to solar plexus/ribs, lift up right knee
with left, force him down; allow his right leg to slide until left grabs his
right ankle, grab right ankle with right, pull up as right heel stomps groin.
B.) Start as ‘A’ except; catch back of right knee with right, left hand to right
hip point; shift weight to front foot, lift up right leg with right, push down
against right hip with left; swing right leg clockwise to the left to takedown;
allow his right leg to slide until right inner forearm is level with K-7, B-59;
keep his leg tight to your left side, left hand pulls right hand in to support
right arm pressure during submission.
15. Blue Dragon Whips His Tail.
(A1-2B). Overhead ax or club
attack.
A1.) Hop forward left with left to
fighting stance, X-block with back of hands, (right on top), to his right wrist;
circle down, right hand sliding to handle of ax, left tiger mouth on his wrist;
chop off right leg at knee, continue motion to rear, step forward with right,
remove ax from grip with right, maintain grip loosely (to allow rotation of his
wrist), lift his right arm up overhead with left, cross back in advance with
left, pivot to fighting stance; pull his right arm in with left and chop off
head or arm; or bury it in his back.
A2.) Club. Start like ‘A1’ but; strike inside right knee; continue;
strike Gv-16 and continue through; reverse direction, strike up to crook of
right arm to bend; rotate club clockwise to arm lock; change grip, step forward
left - right and kneel with left for takedown.
B.) Club. Start like ‘A1’ but; club to groin; cross over in advance with
right, right rising palm heel to jaw or face; drop right supported finger into
right eye, left hand on right shoulder pivot to bow, take down.
16. Kung Fu Cross. (A1-2,B).
Wrist grab, handshake.
A1.) Right hand. Pin his right
hand to wrist with left, slide right fingers over his right wrist to counter
grab; step back with right; pull him forward; shift back to naihanchi, left side
elbow (under his right arm) to right ribs, right arm still pulling; pivot
forward to bow, slap right arm down with right palm, right 4 finger eye shot,
slide left hand to top of his right arm; shift to naihanchi, left forearm on his
right elbow, slide right hand down to right wrist; sweep his right leg to your
right forward 45° with left; plant in twisted stance; pivot to fighting stance,
break right elbow and/or take down.
A2.) Left hand. Grab his right wrist with the right, twist left hand
counter clockwise to free; finish like ‘A1’ or step back left with right, left
forearm on his right elbow, slide right hand down to right wrist; pivot to
fighting stance, break right elbow and/or take down.
B.) Handshake. Place left tiger mouth on his right wrist, step back with
right; push right hand back against tiger mouth (palm
heel against fingers) to lock his arm straight; rotate his right arm counter
clockwise, circle up and back, pull him forward, shift towards Kusanku;
shift back to naihanchi, finish like ‘A1’ or ‘A2’.
17. Blue Dragons Fighting.
(ABC). Knife against knife.
A.) Hop forward with left to half bow,
left inward parry, cut 45° up with right, between hip and floating ribs; reverse
motion, lower body, cut right thigh tendons above knee; lift and spin 360° on
left leg, cut neck or right arm.
B.) Hop left with left, shift right 90° right foot to cat; left inward parry
right forearm, cut his right inside wrist with knife; maintain pin with left,
step forward with right, thrust up under jaw to brain; rock and roll.
C.) Hop forward to bow with left, left inward parry right arm downward 45°, cut
left side neck with knife; shift right 90° right foot to cat, maintain left hand
on his right elbow, continue motion, right cut to crook of right arm; right
thrust through the ribs to heart; right thrust to right side neck.
18.
Breaking the Staff.
(AB). Left push or grab.
A.) Push. Step back with left to fighting stance, double palm heel strike
(left to left wrist, right to left elbow) his left arm; loop right crane parry
around left elbow, move it right; shuffle forward, continue motion with right;
right four knuckle rake to nose, left hand in guard; shuffle forward, again,
right side elbow to left side head, right palm heel to right side; punch down
with right, twist right hand forward, grab his groin; pull up, right lift kick
to groin (Cv-1), left hand to guard, right hand overhead; plant forward with
right, right 45º strike left side of neck (Gb-20).
B.) Grab. Left one finger eye shot; finish like ‘A’.
19. Breaking the Wing. (ABC).
Right push or grab.
A.) Step forward with left to
fighting stance, reach over his right forearm and grab inside right wrist (thumb
on first knuckle) with the left, right tiger’s mouth to outside right wrist
(thumb on middle knuckle); maintain grip, cross back with left; pivot 180º to
bow, pull and rotate his wrist counter clockwise to throw so he falls to his
right side and rolls over on stomach; adjust stance as necessary, straighten and
lock arm, apply pressure with Ikkyo; if not on stomach: adjust stance as
necessary, reverse direction, step over body with left cross back with right,
pivot and finish as above.
B.) Same as ‘A’ except; cross over with left and push down as you rotate his
wrist.
C.) Start as ‘A’ then; rotate his right arm to the elbow up position pinned
tightly to your left side, swing your left leg parallel to the ground; drop
straight to the ground, pull up on his wrist; land on left side, break his arm.
20. Tumbling Clouds. (ABC).
Right PR-24 thrust.
A.) Hop forward left side with left to fighting stance, with right elbow crook
hook his right wrist, pull in towards body, left elbow crook to his right elbow
in uppercut motion; break his right arm; step back (left) with right, twist
upper body to swing him around; reverse direction 180º, crane hook and pin his
elbow to your left side, reverse knife hand to left side of his neck.
B.) Back against wall. Step forward with left to cat; suck in stomach,
downward circular parry with right, catch his right hand and wrist, left inside
forearm strike, to right biceps; cross back left with right; pull with right and
rotate left elbow up, against his right shoulder blade; reverse left arm to
vertical forearm; pivot to naihanchi, apply pressure to right elbow joint, drive
head into wall; pivot 90° right, kneel with left and break right elbow.
C.) Hop forward left side with left to fighting stance, left inward parry, right
circling outward back hand parry (fingers down) right arm, right supported
finger hook to right eye; step forward with right to fighting stance, right side
elbow to head, left hand on arm; cross back with right, right back knuckle to
face, left hand on his upper right arm; catch right arm with right, slide down
to wrist, pivot to fighting stance; pull with right, left tiger claw to face;
slide left forearm to elbow, step forward with left to fighting stance, break
elbow.
