Rokkyu (Purple Belt)
1.
Kimono Grab. Set II. (AB). Two hand grab.
A.) Arms straight. Step forward with right, double punch: left to face
and right to solar plexus; right foot back to cat, left horizontal descending
forearm twist strike to radial nerves; right front snap kick to groin; plant
forward, right knife hand thrust (palm up) to throat, left pressing down on his
arms.
B.) Arms bent. Circle right arm counter clockwise, pin his left hand,
bending wrist, to right side of chest; same time: left 45° rising outward knife
hand to crook of his right arm, pull his bent left wrist with right, rising
right knee to hip; finish like “Bearhug (Pinned in front) ‘A1’”.
2.
Purple Matwork. Set I. (ABCD). Falling defenses.
A.) Forward shoulder roll to fighting stance.
B.) Hop 45° left forward with left to side crane; right side kick to right knee;
plant towards opponent in fighting stance, right side elbow, left palm heel to
head; grab jaw with right, back of head with left, twist clockwise to break;
right knife hand (palm up) to throat or philtrum – or – choke out after side
elbow strike.
C.) Back roll to fighting stance.
D.) Stepping over. Drop under and side kick to groin (Cv-1).
3.
The Anvil. (ABC). Two hand wrist grab (front).
A.) Twist wrists to thumbs up, pull straight up and back against his thumbs;
right front snap kick to groin; double outward knife hand strike to hands, plant
forward with right to fighting stance, double knife hand strike to collar bones.
B.) Rotate hands to palms up on top of his arms, right front snap kick to groin,
plant forward with right to fighting stance, double thumb strike to eyes.
C.) Tall. Start as ‘A’, double rising 45° palm heel strike to floating
rib points, left hand grab back of neck/head, pull down, right rising elbow to
face.
4.
The Dancer. Set I. (AB). Two hand choke (behind).
A.) Same time: chin to chest, step back 45° right with left, bend forward 45°,
left knife hand to groin; pivot to naihanchi, body parallel to ground, left hand
lowers to right side of his knee, head under his grip, right reverse knife hand
to groin; continue motion, step 225° left with right to fighting stance.
B.) Start as ‘A’, right reverse knife hand to groin; double palm heel ‘fan’
strike (left to right ankle, right to right upper knee) to knock down; grab heel
with right, toes with left, twist clockwise, step between his legs with right
foot, place his right foot on right side of lap, right knee to ground with right
shin in his right knee joint; slide left leg to left over his left leg; lean
forward for pain.
5.
Bearhug (Pinned in back). Set I. (A1-2,BC1-2).
A1.) Step left to naihanchi, left hand on his arms, kata punch forward with
right, arms release, pivot 90°
right, right low rear elbow to solar plexus, right hammer fist to groin right
back knuckle to face.
A2.) Same as ‘A1’; arms don’t release. Twist shoulders hard with elbow
strike, left four finger eye shot.
B.) Arms behind. Step to right with right, left hand grabs groin, pull
up; crescent step behind his right leg with left to naihanchi; left back rising
elbow to chin; shift left to bow, right hammer fist to heart, press down with
left elbow, tripping him over left leg.
C1.) Feet off the ground. Shrug shoulders, punch both arms forward and up
until pop out of grip; chin to chest, squat and bend over, catch back of his
left foot; pull up on foot, sit on knee until he falls; hold left foot, right
rear kick groin, spin 360° left with right thigh to side of left foot (break
left knee).
C2.) Same as ‘C1’ until break; pull right foot up to figure four; sit down on
left knee, right leg crossed under his left leg; rock back, pull left foot to
chest to break; roll off quickly.
6.
Attacking Defense. (AB). Right push,
or grab.
A.) High. Same time: left inward parry and catch his right wrist, right
arm sweeps low across body, (arm straight), right naihanchi kick to knee; rotate
right arm up (inside), left hand down (outside) below right elbow; right punch
face, left pull his right arm to our right armpit; plant forward to twisted
stance.
B.) Low. Start as ‘A’ except; hook his right wrist with right thumb, pull
right wrist to left hand; finish like ‘A’.
7. Kick Blocks. Set II
(A1-2,B1-3,C1-2).
A1.) Round house kick (left). Step back with
right, pivot to fighting stance, manji blocking strike kick; pivot forward to
bow, left whipping back knuckle to face, right punch to body; pivot back to
fighting stance, hands to guards.
A2.) Round house kick (left). Step back with right, pivot to fighting
stance, manji blocking strike kick; shuffle forward, pivot to bow, left back
knuckle strike body, right punch face, pivot back to fighting stance guards up.
B1.) Front snap kick, right punch. Step back with right, right
downward blocking strike, left hand to guard; pivot to fighting stance, left
45°downward inward blocking strike to right arm; shift forward to bow, right
reverse knife hand to throat, left hand to guard.
B2.) Same as ‘B1’; he doesn’t fall back; pivot 180° to neutral bow,
left rising whipping back knuckle to right kidney.
B3.) Closer. Same as ‘B1’ to forward shift; right side elbow to face,
right hammer fist to (Gb-20), right reverse knife hand to left side of neck.
C1.) Start like ‘B1’ except; left inward blocking strike to right arm; pivot
forward to bow, right side elbow to his right ribs, left hand to chamber; pivot
180º, right knife hand to Gb-20, Gv-16, left uppercut to kidney.
C2.) Start like ‘C1’ except; grab right shoulder with left; same time: right
naihanchi kick right side of knee, right uppercut to right ribs; plant towards
opponent; pivot to fighting stance, left hand sweeps right arm down, right side
elbow to head.
8.
Temple Shot. (ABC). Two hands pull (front).
A.) Right rising knee to groin; plant forward with right, double palm strike
ears; grab chin with right, top of head with left, push up with right and pull
down with left; pivot left, kneel with right.
B.) Pin his hands to chest with left, step forward with right. pivot to fighting
stance, right back knuckle twist to nose; reverse motion and right forearm to
philtrum.
C.) Pin his hands to chest with left, step forward with right (between his
legs); pivot to fighting stance, right reverse knife hand to groin; right side
elbow or back knuckle twist to left side of his face or nose; continue through,
left circling crane claw to eyes; reverse motion and right forearm to philtrum,
left hand return to pin.
9.
Circles of China. (A1-2,B1-2,C1-2,DE). Right wrist grab (left
arm).
A1.) Circle right arm counter clockwise catching his wrist with right hand tiger
mouth, at the top of the circle grab his left lower forearm with left; as you
complete the circle, step forward with right to fighting stance, right elbow to
ribs, left hand on wrist.
A2.) Start as ‘A1’; at the top throw his left arm down; right knife hand to
throat or philtrum, left hand to guard.
B1.) Resists. As he pulls his arm down; reverse motion, swing his arm
clockwise; catch with left while passing bottom of swing, pull up with left;
finish like ‘A1’.
B2.) Rotate right hand clockwise and pull to chest; step forward with right to
fighting stance, finish like ‘A2’.
C1.) Can’t circle right or left. Lift his left arm over head with right
tiger mouth to left wrist, step forward with right, left tiger mouth to throat;
pivot to fighting stance, right dropping elbow to left pectoral muscle, left to
guard.
C2.) Step forward 45º right with right, lift right arm to solar plexus level;
place left hand on outside of right wrist, counter grab his left outside wrist;
twist right hand counter clockwise to free; cross back in advance with left,
right back knuckle to philtrum; place right vertical forearm on his left elbow;
pivot 180º to bow, break elbow or take down.
D.) Can’t move. Step forward with right to fighting stance; bend right
wrist to crane, right side elbow to his left arm to free ours, left hand to
guard; hammer fist groin with the right; catch his left forearm with the left
and pull down, punch face with right; take down.
E.) Start as ‘A’; catch left forearm with left, push right wrist against his
left thumb; step forward to take down.
10.
Shackle Break. (AB). Both wrists grabbed (behind).
A.) Counter grab both wrists, step forward with left; pull both arms forward,
right rear kick to groin/body; plant back with right to fighting stance, circle
right arm under his left arm; finish like “Kimono Grab Set II ‘B’”.
B.) Start as ‘A’; maintain grip with left, circle right arm clockwise, pull his
right arm forward, release, shift body back, right dropping elbow to spine;
place both palms on top of his head; push down and left knee to face.
11.
Sleeves of China. Set I. (AB1-2,C). Two hand shoulder grab
(behind).
A.) Step forward 45° right with left, pin his right hand to right shoulder with
left; pivot to fighting stance, 45° right dropping elbow, to right elbow -
breaking.
B1.) Start as ‘A1’; knock right arm down, shuffle forward right rising palm heel
to jaw, chop, back knuckle or tiger claw.
B2.) Same as ‘B1’ except; hands block face; pivot to dropping stance,
right hammer fist to groin.
C.) Start as ‘A’, shuffle forward right rising palm heel to jaw, continue circle
to tiger claw to groin, grab and pull; pivot right to bow, left uppercut to
right floating ribs, right tiger fist or tiger mouth to throat.
12.
Crossing the Sun. (AB). Overhead club.
A.) Hop forward left side with left to fighting stance, X-block with outside of
forearms, right on top, to his right wrist; circle down, right hand to his right
wrist, left vertical forearm on his elbow, step right with left to fighting
stance, push forward with left, pull back with right to bend him over; circle
left elbow clockwise to spine.
B.) Start as ‘A’; step back with right, pivot 180° to half bow, break right
elbow.
13.
Crane Leap. (ABCD). Handshake.
A.) Hop forward 45° left with left to crane, left palm heel/grab his right
elbow, pull his right arm past right hip with both hands, right round house knee
to solar plexus; plant back left with right, re-grab his right wrist with right,
left forearm on his right elbow; pivot; kneel with left; adjust for pin.
B.) Start as ‘A’; plant forward behind his right leg, right side elbow to face
or inside forearm to left side of neck
C.) Start as ‘A’; plant forward behind his right leg, right web-hand strike then
grab to throat, left crane hook his right crook of elbow; pivot 180° to bow,
pull down with the left throw him to ground with the right.
D.) Left leg forward. Start as ‘A’; after knee, right side kick to left
knee; finish as in ‘A’.
14.
Purple Matwork. Set II. (A1-3,B1-2). Falling defenses.
A1.) Left foot forward. Hop forward 45° left with left to front crane;
left inward parry, right hand on hip, right front snap kick to knee; plant
forward between his legs; pivot to fighting stance, right reverse knife hand to
groin; push upper body down with left, right dropping elbow to spine.
A2.) Hop forward 45° left with left, hands in guard position, right round house
kick to body; plant towards opponent, left spinning heel or back kick to body.
A3.) Same as ‘A2’ except; plant right foot off line (forward left 45º) to crane,
left round house kick to kidney.
B1.) Right leg forward Drop under, left side down; scissors kick (right
heel to outside right knee, left ankle to inside right ankle) his right leg;
tuck his right foot into lap, roll over on top, our right knee and toes on floor
with right shin in crook of his right knee, left leg straddling him to the left
side and straight. Lean forward for pain.
B2.) Right leg forward Drop under, left side down; same time: right side
kick to right knee, left lift kick to right Achilles tendon; pop up, right
shoulder roll along right side of body to left kneeling stance, right punch or
four finger eye shot to face.
15. Opponents at Sides. (A1-3,BC1-2). Two attackers grabbing.
A1.) Shoulders grabbed. Pin hand to right shoulder with left; step right
with right to fighting stance, right knife hand to throat; cross over left with
right; pivot to fighting stance, counter grab his arm with left, right knife
hand (palm up) to left side neck.
A2.) Start as ‘A1’; cross over left with right, right fingertip eye rake, left
hand under arm in guard; pivot to fighting stance, left knife hand to throat,
cross back 45° right with left, pivot, right reverse knife hand to left side
neck.
A3.) Circle both hands counter clockwise crane claw to faces, hook their arms at
the elbows; step forward with right to fighting stance, continue circling motion
to uppercuts, double hammer fist to their sides; circle behind and grab back of
their heads, slam faces together.
B.) Shoulders and elbow. Step right with right to fighting stance, right
hammer fist to groin; cross over left with right, left hammer fist to groin.
C1.) Shoulders and wrist. Pivot 90° left, right rear kick to body; feet
together, pivot 180°, left rear kick to body.
C2.) Closer. Right side kick to knee; feet together, left side kick to
knee.
