Kumite Jutsu
Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt)
1. Circling the Moon.
(AB1-2,C). Right punch.
A.) Starts like “Attacking
Defense ‘A’”, after punch; step back with right, finish like “Wrapping the Gift
‘C’”.
B1.) Starts like ‘A’, after punch; step right with right to naihanchi; continue
like "Arm Sweep 'A3'", pull his right arm right with right, shift to right Bo,
rotate arms (palms down) so left arm has his right arm in arm lock; right punch
to head; step 270° back with right, pivot; take down.
B2.) Same as ‘B1’, twist right outward to outside forearm against his right
shoulder, left hand reverse grip on his right wrist, push wrist forward, take
down like, ‘pin of a 1000 years’.
C.) Starts like ‘A’ except use outward extended strike; step right with right to
naihanchi; reverse hook back of neck with right, rotate his head and right arm
clockwise; rotate hands counter clockwise, left
to his right elbow crook, right to grip back of neck; left hand lifts his
right arm, continue twisting him clockwise; shift 90º to left Bo, throw his head
to left with the right, place his back on left knee; pin his right arm to your
left side with left hand, retract right arm to strike; grab his right hand with
right, twist to pin or break, keep his right elbow tight to your side with left
arm.
2.
The Bushi. Set I. (AB). Pistol (front).
A.) Chest. Step forward with left, left hand grabs his hand/s and the
pistol pushing them to the right; right hand grab the barrel and twist the
pistol free; step forward with the right, jab muzzle into his throat or whip the
butt into his face.
B.) Forehead. This is done as one smooth movement. Both hands grab his
hand/s and the pistol barrel, lower head and drop into naihanchi; push muzzle up
and twist back towards him; continue motion with hands forcing muzzle towards
him and lower the arms to twist the pistol free from his grip.
3. Offer of Dust.
High right, left punch.
Step forward with right to fighting
stance, right punch right biceps, left punch right radial nerve; right back
knuckle to left ulna nerve, left cross to right side face, pivot with left to
knee-to-knee stance; reverse and right hook to face.
4. Path of the Leopard.
Spinning kick.
Step forward with left, right naihanchi
kick his support leg; place both knife hands on back shoulder joints, stop his
spin; circle right arm with right; finish like the reverse of “Bearhug (Pib) Set
II ‘A1’”.
5. Swinging Gate. (AB).
Right push, punch, or grab.
A.) Step forward 45° left with
left to bow, left clockwise circular downward palm heel to wrist, right
clockwise circular crane wrist to biceps; shift to naihanchi, continue circular
motion, catch his right wrist with left (palm up), right crane hook his elbow;
rotate his right arm parallel; cross back left with right; pivot 180º; kneel
with left; takedown with ‘pin of a 1000 years’.
B.) Start as ‘A’; catch crook of right elbow with left, back of neck with right;
continue motion to throw on his back.
6. Spinning Hammers.
(A1-2,B1-2,C). Right punch.
A1.) Step forward with left,
left parry, right upward circling block; pivot to fighting stance, double
circular hammer fist strike, right to groin, left to kidney; catch jaw with left
inverted crane hook, spin him around; shift to bow, uppercut to left side of
jaw.
A2.) Same as ‘A1’ except; place his chin in the crook of right arm, step back
with left, finish like “Encircling Arms Set II ‘C’”.
B1.) Start as ‘A1’ then; catch back of head with left, jaw with right; rotate
head back to arch spine, right knee to spine; maintain left grip, circle right
arm counter clockwise to hammer fist to throat or dropping elbow to heart.
B2.) Same as ‘B1’ except; cross back with left, finish like “Encircling Arms Set
I ‘B’”.
C.) Start as ‘A1’ then; sweep right leg with left, spin 360°, right - left
hammer fist to neck.
7.Chinese Pincers. (AB).
Counter to nikyo.
A.) As his fingers come up over wrist, grab them with the left, pull them back
and counter clockwise, with right on his wrist, left forearm on top of his right
forearm; apply pressure, take down.
B.) Can’t grab fingers. Start as ‘A’ he closes fingers; catch his
fist with left; step back with right to fighting stance, turn his arm to elbow
on top, bring left arm over his right, finish like “The Rocker ‘A’”.
8. Avoiding the Viper.
Right, left hook.
Left outward reverse knife hand blocking strike to his right forearm, right hand
to guard; step forward with right to cat, right outward extended knife hand
blocking strike to left hook, left hand to guard; catch his left fist with the
left, rotate right elbow over the top of his left forearm; cross back in advance
45° right with the left; pivot and kneel for take down.
9.
Startled Cat. (AB). Right punch.
A.) Step back slightly with left to cat stance, left circling inward parry right
punch, right circling palm heel tiger claw Si-18; both arms continue to circle;
step forward behind his right leg; pivot to fighting stance as right elbow
strikes heart, left hand in guard; step forward with left, right dropping tiger
claw to face; kneel on right driving head into ground.
B.) Step back slightly with left to cat stance, left circling inward parry right
punch, right circling palm to left ear; both arms continue to circle; left palm
to right ear; finish like ‘A’.
10.
Whirling Mace. Right lunge punch.
Step forward with right between his legs, right – left brushing parries to right
punch, right continues to hammer fist to groin; reverse, left tiger claw to
face, right punch to face; left continues motion, left rising knee to groin;
plant forward, left dropping circular hammer fist to right side neck or collar
bone.
11. Chinese Hook. (AB).
Left hook punch.
A.) Step forward with right to cat, intercept punch with right outward extended
blocking strike, left palm heel to face; step forward with right; pivot to
fighting stance, right side elbow to left side of head, left hand to guard;
right crane claw to face, left knife hand to throat, right leg lift to groin,
plant forward, right punch to face, left hand to guard.
B.) Step forward with right to cat, intercept punch with right outward extended
blocking strike, left palm heel to heart point; right side elbow to left side of
his head, left hand to guard; right upside down gouging thumb grab to trachea,
left upside down tiger claw grab to groin; crescent step forward 45° right with
left behind his legs to twisted stance; pivot to bow, throw, twisting hands as
he falls to rip out.
12. Ming’s Sword. (AB).
Right push.
A.) Step forward with left to cat, left palm against right push, stopping it;
cross back in advance 45° forward left with right, place right forearm over his
right forearm, grab his right fingers with the left and bend them back, pull in
to “Kenpo lock”; pivot and kneel with left.
B.) Start as ‘A’ until “Kenpo lock”; his arm straightens; pull right
thumb against his right wrist, left elbow to inside of his right arm, pin right
elbow to left side; rock, right hand up, left elbow down; kneel on left.
13.
Whirling Mantis. (ABC).
Right push, punch, or grab.
A.) Left leg forward. Step forward 45º left with right, left
inward parry, right back knuckle twist to nose; pivot 180º to bow, left knife
hand to heart point, right hand to guard; right front snap kick to his left
knee, both hands in guard, plant forward; pivot towards him, right reverse knife
hand to groin, left in guard.
B.) Right leg forward. Start as ‘A’ except kick to his right hamstring
muscle; plant forward, grab his face from behind with both tiger claws; step
back left – right – left, pull him backwards by his head, throw him on back;
drop right knee on his head.
C.) Start as ‘A’ then; crescent step back with left behind him; grab his
shoulders, right knee to spine; step back right – left – right, kneel on right,
pull him down back to knee; right hand to jaw, catch top of head with left,
twist clockwise; hands to ‘crane’; right knife hand chops throat, left hand on
back of head; circle both hands over head, double hammer fists to clavicles;
continue motion with hands; lift up, step back with right, adjust to low Kusanku
stance, double crane claws to face.
14. Okinawan Hand. (AB1-2).
Right push.
A.) Step forward 45° right with right, intercept push with right, catch back of
his right hand, left hand catches his right
fingertips; push forward with left, twist clockwise with right; pivot
180°, kneel with left.
B1.) Step forward with left to cat, stop push with left palm; he jerks right
hand back, keep in contact, palm to palm, step forward with left, catch his
right fingers with left, place right back of hand against back of his right
hand; cross back in advance with right, switch right hand to wrist grip, pivot,
corkscrew down, kneel with left.
B2.) Same as 'B1' except; use "Twisted Wave 'A'" lockup.
15.
Catching the Tiger’s Tail. (AB). Trapped leg.
A.) Jump forward bending trapped leg, swing arms, shoulder, and head to opposite
side of support leg, spinning rear, side, or heel kick to head. Sacrifice fall.
B.) Start as ‘A’ except; twist to side of support leg; round house kick to side
of neck.
16.
Shaolin Warrior. Right punch.
Step forward 45° left with left to cat, left inward parry, right middle knuckle
to heart point; left hand catch his
right shoulder, kneel with left right foot behind his right foot; right back
knuckle to back of his right knee, pull down with the left, straighten right
foot, causing him to fall on back; right tiger claw to groin.
17.
The Dagger. (AB). Right push.
A.) Step forward with left to cat, left palm against his right palm, place right
arm over and on top of his right wrist (wrist in armpit) back of right arm on
right side of his; pull right elbow back, tight to side, squeeze armpit closed,
bend our right wrist (palm up) over his arm; cross back left with the right;
pivot 180° to kneeling stance with the left, left hand on fingertips, back of
hand against his right elbow.
B.) Step forward with left to fighting stance, left palm against his right palm;
right 45° forearm strike to his right inside forearm; finish like ‘A’.
18. Chinese Cobra. Right
punch.
Step left with left to naihanchi, double palm heel strike: left downward to
wrist, right upward to elbow; step forward with right to fighting stance, right
side elbow to right ribs, left palm on his back; left hand pulls his right arm
down, right, palm up, one finger eye shot to right eye, over top of his right
arm.
19. Circles of Fire.
Left punch.
Step forward with the right to cat, left inward parry, right outward parry and
catch left wrist, (continue motion counter clockwise) to left forearm strike,
low across body (arm straight) to upper left elbow nerve, bend elbow; right arm
small circle lock and squeeze; cross back in advance 45° right with left, pivot
and take down.
20.
Twisting Leopard. (A1,A2,B). Right cross wrist grab.
A1.) Step forward with the right to fighting stance, right tiger mouth
counter grab to his right wrist, circle counter clockwise descending 45° left;
grab his fingers with the left; step 45° right with the right to half bow, twist
his right arm clockwise, left elbow on top, bend fingers back and clockwise;
apply pressure, dropping him; kneel .
A2.) Can’t grab fingers, grab fist with left, and finish.
B.) Step forward 45° left with left to naihanchi, right hand counter grab right
wrist, left palm heel to right elbow point; roll his right arm counter
clockwise, right knee to right thigh (right hip moves back); plant right w/R,
slide left hand to his right shoulder, kneel with left, place his right arm on
left shoulder; cont to “Restraining Hold ‘A’”.
21.
Chinese Corkscrew.
Right punch.
Step forward 45° left with left, right outward parry and catch right wrist, left
inside forearm strike to right biceps. Same time: rotate left elbow up, against
right shoulder blade, pull with right, place his right hand in our right armpit;
reverse left arm to vertical forearm on top of his right upper arm point, slide
right arm under his right wrist, pinning; cross back in advance with right,
pivot, pulling up and out with right, down and out with left, kneeling with
left.
22.
Wings of the Hawk. (AB).
Back of the right elbow grab, from the front.
A.) Step forward with right to seisan, left side elbow strike to head,
circle right arm counter clockwise (right hand to upper arm); left hand catch
back of his neck; shift 180° to bow, both hands rotate counter clockwise, throw
on back.
B.) Step 45° forward with right to naihanchi, lift right arm, pin his hand with
left; bend and circle right arm counter clockwise, right forearm over his left,
apply pressure to left wrist; step 45° left with left, drop to half bow, right
arm 45° down to the left; break wrist.
23.
Placing the Pin. Right punch.
Step forward with right to fighting stance, left - right brushing parry, step
forward with left to naihanchi, grab both shoulders, step back right - left and
kneel with left; pull him down on right knee, break spine; slide hands to
biceps, push down to pin; roll him to left, place him face down on ground; pull
up on arms, knee on spine; slide hands up to wrists, pull up together; rise and
place right foot between shoulder blades, pull up to finish.
24.
The Bushi. Set II. (AB). Pistol (front).
A.) Right front. Hop forward left side with left to naihanchi, right
shoulder and arm, back and left as much as possible, grab gun and hand with
left; cross over in advance with right, behind his legs, right hand grabs his
fingers and trigger housing; with both hands twist gun and hand counter
clockwise to Ikkyo, wrist and elbow bent; place right finger on trigger or
finger; pivot to naihanchi, when barrel is pointing at his head, press the
trigger; continue pivot to bow stance; take down, disarm; right heel stomp on
left arm, heart; drop right knee on solar plexus strike with right hand.
B.) Left front. Start as ‘A’ only right side; left outward parry, reach
over top with right and grab gun and his hand; twist left hand and grab;
forget trigger housing, rotate gun and hand clockwise; cross back with
right, controlling barrel, (never points at you); pivot to fighting
stance, barrel pointing up; twist gun forward out of his grip.
25. Retreating Storm. (AB).
Gun in back.
A.) High. Pivot on right heel, left ball of foot, to 45° right forward
twisted stance, right hand outward extended parry to his right forearm; slide
right hand to gun and hand; step forward with the left to fighting stance, reach
over top of his right wrist, grab gun and hand with left; finish like “The Bushi
‘A’”.
B.) Low. Same as ‘A’ except; right arm sweeps low rear across body.
